TJP Make Tags Scripting

Section Six - Text Formatting Script

You have edited the Make Tags Script and completed the Add Text Script. Now it's time to format your text on your tag. This entire Section will dress up the name with your alignment, drop shadow, inner bevel, etc.

  • 1. Go back to the Script Toolbar drop down and change back to your TagName-MakeTags script.

  • 2. Click the round donut again to start recording

  • 3. This is where you do what you want to fix your text. You can move it around, widen, shorten, etc... until you have it placed where you want...

  • 4. On the vector layer (right side of PSPX) you'll see the layer that has your text on it. Make sure it is selected and Right Click/Promote to Raster layer.

  • 5. Now you can add your inner bevel and drop shadow if you want.

  • 6. Once you have dressed up your text go back to Layers/merge/merge visable.

  • 7. If you are saving this as a jpg and want to add a frame and buttonize it then do that next. If you're saving as psp image or do not want to buttonize then skip that part.

  • 8. Next go back to the Script Toolbar and click that end icon (looks like a floppy disc) and save.

  • 9. Save menu pops up and save as TagName-TextFormatting.pspscript
Example: eloisethankyou-TextFormatting.pspscript. (saved in eloisethankyou folder)

  • 10. IMPORTANT: Each of those scripts must match exactly to your tag name. If you have a tag "Dragon" with a capital letter then everwhere you place a path should also reflect that. Your AddText and TextFormatting scripts should also reflect that. All examples here were in lowercase. Stop now and double check using the Edit button that all your scripts have the correct names. When you are satisfied you have everything correct then move on to the next part.
Now you are ready to Make Tags!

  • 1. Close out the duplicate that you used to text and format.

  • 2. Go to your Script Toolbar and click on the diagonal arrow (the first icon) With cursor over it you should see "Run Selected Script".

  • 3. If everything is done right your tag should pop up in PSP along with a notice that it is set to go. Click ok and sit back and watch it make those test tags!
~The End~

Hope it works for you! Let me know please?

SPECIAL NOTATIONS:

Sometimes when you try to record you may notice your image doesn't come up and you get an error message. Don't panic. Just open your image and run the script again. You may get the same message but after you click okay everything begins to work. There is no rhyme or reason to this but it does happen once in awhile.

When using the record buttons should you make a mistake and need to stop everything use the X button shown here:

There is also another RED x button. That is for when your script is running/making tags, and you see you don't like them. That red button will stop the process.

It is always a good idea to make yourself familiar with the script tool bar. If you place your cursor over each icon it will tell you what it is.
